REMASE is the short name of the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao in Davao City. It was founded by the PME Fathers (Priests for the Foreign Mission) from Quebec, Canada established in 1964, upon the insistence of the Sacred Congregation for Seminaries, for the philosophical and theological formation of future diocesan priests for the entire island of Mindanao.

Davao hosts NRC II – Mindanao

The National Rural Congress II Mindanao (NRC II – Mindanao) activities are well on their way. Daditama is actively participating. In fact, it has been chosen to host the said event particularly by the host Archdiocese of Davao. I would like to share with our readers the latest bulletin from the NRC II - Mindanao secretariat regarding the preparations and the holding of the congress.

I- Objectives:

1. To present the collated & consolidated results of the Diocesan ad intra & sub-regional ad extra consultations;

In # 1227 of the Catechism for Filipino Catholics it says:
Jesus proclaimed the liberating power of truth. “ I am the light of the world; no follower of mine shall ever walk in darkness; no, he will possess the light of life… If you live according to my teaching, you are truly my disciples; then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (Jn 8:12, 31-32)

Priests mark 25th sacerdotal anniv

Three priests from the Diocese of Digos will celebrate their 25th anniversary as priests next week. Fr. Nestor Lisondra will have his silver anniversary on March 26. Fr. Joselyno ‘Bong’ Gallopin, assistant parish priest of San Isidro Labrador Parish, Digos and Fr. Leociso Monroid, parochial vicar of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Sta. Cruz will celebrate their 25 years in the ministry on March 28.

As I had expected, the convicted plunderer, former President Estrada will soon be pardoned by President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo. Indeed, the pardon was announced last October 26. He was immediately released from detention the day after. There was obvious haste in the processes that led to his release which looked suspicious to some observers in the light of the current controversies the Administration is embroiled in.
